Blindsided

  • Blindsided

It was a disheartening sight watching the Reds get monstered and bullied into submission by the Waratahs last night. The poor Reds were simply outmuscled and outplayed. The scoreline says it all really: 32-5 is a flogging in anyone's book.

Genia and Cooper were suffocated by a Tahs defense that was quick off the mark to smother the life out of our two great playmakers.

Not only were we choked by the Tahs defence, but when we did have the ball, we were sloppy with it and the Tahs kept forcing turnovers through the breakdown. We couldn't keep a hold of the bloody ball to save ourselves. The only positive was our line-outs. We came up trumps through the line-out more often than not but I'm still not sure if that was because of our immaculate skills or if the Tahs are just useless as tits on a bull.

Lachie Turner scored our only points through a try that we managed off the back of Israel Folau's sinbinning.

Folau didn't quite live up to his performance from last week, only scoring two measely tries. But you'd have to be sick in the head not to be a little petrified by the partnership Folau is forming with Kurtley Beale. They're as thick as thieves those two.

Izzy's game is amazing. He can skip through a defensive line at will. Offload. Defend like a madman. But when a teammate makes a break, Izzy is never far away. It's often his support play that gifts him a try.

There are some weirdos out there talking up Sonny Bill Williams as the ultimate athlete. But those fools have a completely backwards perspective, Izzy is the man.

Have the Waratahs announced themselves as genuine conference leaders? Is Izzy or SBW the ultimate athlete?
