The Reds were spanked by the Waratahs last week. It was plain for all to see. There's no point denying it. But the Cheetahs were taught a lesson by the Melbourne Rebels too - and the Rebels are supposed to be a push-over.
Both sides were embarrassed and both are looking for some much needed redemption and self-respect.
This Friday we meet the Cheetahs on the hallowed turf of Suncorp Stadium. We need a win, desperately, otherwise we're in danger of becoming the laughing stock of the Aussie conference.
The good news is that the cool heads at sportsbet.com.au have pegged the Reds at short odds at $1.25. This bouys my hopes a little.
There have been a couple of injuries and switches to the Reds side. Chris Feauai-Sautia is replacing Ben Tapuai in the starting side and is expected to add some much needed mongrel to the Reds backline. Mike Harris returns to the centres and Rod Davies is replacing the enigmatic Lachie Turner on the wing.
Hopefully the forwards can give Cooper and Genia some room to play with so they can weave their magic.
I'm picking the Reds to bounce back and give the Cheetahs a good old fashioned thrashing.
Can the Reds bounce back or are they doomed to become the cellar dwellers of the Oz conference?
