The Reds' hopes of a Finals berth have been all but obliterated by Ned Kelly look-a-like, Jayden Hayward, in the Reds 32-29 boi-lover loss to the Western Force. Hayward stepped through the ruck, dragging Will Genia - who was hanging on to Hayward's leg for grim death - over the line with him in the 79th minute.
It was a match that had more leader switches than I've had hot meals.
James Slipper seemed determined to score a try from a dummy on the line. His first attempt was denied after he was held up just short, but the next phase saw Ben Tapuai get over. Slipper did eventually crash over the line from a dummy though, much to his delight.
Ben McCalman was stronger than the Hulk and Superman combined, even scoring a try on his return from suspension.
The game itself was an entertaining thing to watch but it's the aftermath that have people talking. For the Force it signalled the first time their team has ever been able to string together four wins in a row. For the Reds though, the loss damns them to 11th spot on the Super Rugby ladder.
Sure we've been crippled by injuries, but is that a good enough excuse? Our discipline has been sub-par all season, we seem to giveaway an infinite ammount of penalties every game.
Can the Reds manage to salvage the season or are we too far gone?
