The season started with such promise after we came out and trounced the Brumbies by 10 points. We had a fit and healthy team. Cooper was back to his best.

But then things started getting weird.

We quickly developed a reputation as the most heavily penalised team in the comp and we copped absolute floggings from the Waratahs (by 27points) and the Sharks (by 15 points). These losses were punctuated by a token win over the Cheetahs.

What was to come would leave many of us gobsmacked and stunned. Losses to the Lions, Force and Brumbies, all by three points, were hard to swallow. Adding insult to injury is the fact that bumbling refs gifted the Lions and the Brumbies their wins.

But as the old saying goes: don't get bitter, get better.

Our year has been littered with injuries which have culminated in coach Richard Graham hunting around for an outside back that we can hire as a contractor for the rest of the season.

The thing is we've lost three matches by three points. In each of those games we had opportunities to win but spilled our skittles before we could actually plant the ball over the line. We have to stamp out the butter-fingers that seems to be afflicting some of the Reds.

Despite all this negativity our forwards have been outstanding. The big fellas bust a gut every single game. Horwill, Quirk, Gill, Robinson, Slipper, Faingaa: all of these blokes clearly put in 138% and you can't ask for much more than that.

There is talk, however, that Will Genia may struggle to retain his spot in the Wallabies on the back of his season with the Reds. The Little General hasn't had the greatest year but that just means there's room for improvement.

Our final grade for the Reds is a C-

We have the skill and potential to win games, it just seems to be our execution, patience and self control that lets us down.

How do you grade the Reds on their season thus far?
