It's official: the Reds season is as doomed as the Dodo. The Blues absolutely annihiliated the Reds 44-14 last night at Eden Park.
The Reds opened the scoring for the Blues by gifting them two penalties right in front of the up-rights.
Ma'a Nonu almost single-handedly destroyed the Reds having a hand in the Blues first four trys. Nonu played with ferocious brute strength but also showed he has supreme skill and timing with a silky smooth long pass, a deft little stabbing grubber through the line and a perfectly timed off-load all leading directly to tries. Nonu also had a hand in the lead-up to the fourth try.
Once again the Reds backline was shown up. The Reds were often sloppy with the ball. They didn't play smart. Nick Frisby passed the ball for a perfect Blues intercept that resulted in Ihaia West scoring. It's all just getting to be too predictable and soul crushing.
Once again a centurion's milestone was not rewarded with a win. Quade Cooper will want to forget this hideous 100th game anniversary ASAP.
As predicted Liam 'The Machine' Gill bolted out of the blocks with one of his trademark tough-as-an-old-boot games which almost resulted in a try that was later denied by the video ref.
In the end Ben Daley and James Horwill managed to get across the line for us but it was a moot point by then.
Where to now for the Reds? What needs to happen for the Reds to move forward?
