Last night the Queensland Reds reached new depths in their journey from the penthouse to the shithouse.
The Reds' managed to lose to the Melbourne Rebels 23-15 last night in a dire affair that left every resident of Queensland wallowing in grief and misery.
Not only did we lose the game but it was last night confirmed that Will Genia would be fleeing the proverbial sinking ship and linking up with French Rugby Club, Stade Francais after the Rugby World Cup this year. Quade Cooper also looks to have done himself a mischief after his much anticipated return from a busted collar bone suffered during pre-season training while James Horwill has already pleaded guilty and accepted a one week ban after being shown a red card for reckless contact on Rebel Paul Alo-Emile.
The Rebels enjoyed a mammoth percentage of possession which forced the Reds to make 109 more tackles than the Rebels.
After the Reds' aggressive recruitment drive during the off-season most Reds fans were excited by this year. It was the light at the end of the tunnel. But then there was a string of high profile injuries, the cocaine fiasco that engulfed Karmichael Hunt and unfortunate suspensions.
So what is going wrong? With such a talented roster should the cross hairs begin to rest on coach Richard Graham? Should Reds fans be cursing bad luck and a string of unfortunate circumstances?
At least we can all take comfort in the thought that things couldn't possibly get any worse....could they?
