Ayumu Goromaru has played his last match for the Queensland Reds after suffering a shoulder injury in Saturday's Super Rugby win over the Sunwolves of Japan.

The 30-year-old fullback requires surgery on the AC joint injury and will be out of action for the next 12 weeks, meaning he definitely won't be a part of Queensland's final three games of the season, which will all be played after the June Test window.

The Reds have not offered Goromaru a contract for next season, and are unlikely to, with growing speculation he will take up a rich deal with French glamour club Toulon next year.
