Queensland have reportedly signed former Wallabies captain George Smith for next season's Super Rugby competition.

Smith, who will be 36 by the start of next season, has been shopping for homes in the region and would be a replacement for current Reds openside flanker Liam Gill, according to News Corp Australia.

The 111-Test veteran has not played in Super Rugby since he left the Brumbies in 2013, the same year in which his international career ended.
